A free B-roll selector for Premiere Pro.

Turn a pile of B-roll into a sequence of selects in one pass. Quick Select keeps the middle of every clip, Shake Detection keeps the steady parts, and both build a new sequence while your original clips and your current sequence stay untouched.

Two ways to get to usable B-roll.

B-roll Library is one of the Free Forever tools in the AutoEdit plugin. Its B-roll Selector tab has two modes, and its My B-roll Library tab keeps the clips you reuse. Your clips are read on your computer and never uploaded.

Quick Select

The default mode. Trims 25% off the start and 25% off the end of every clip, keeps the middle 50%, and places the kept parts in import order on a new sequence named "B-roll Quick Selects". No analysis, and it works on every computer.

Shake Detection

Analyzes each clip for camera shake on your computer and keeps the steady parts on a new sequence named "B-Roll Selects". Two sliders, How much shake removal and Trim the shaky edges, set how strict it is. Available on Apple silicon Macs and Windows.

My B-roll Library

Save reusable clips and overlays, add a note on when to use each one, and put it on the timeline with one click on Add to timeline.

How to use it

From a folder of B-roll to a sequence of selects.

Install the free AutoEdit plugin and sign in with your free AutoEdit account. No license key and no paid plan needed.

  1. 01

    Open the B-roll Selector

In Premiere Pro, go to Window > Extensions > AutoEdit Creator Mode, open Free Forever Tools, choose B-roll Library, then the B-roll Selector tab.

  2. 02

    Add your clips

Choose Upload or From Library to add the clips you want to sort. Supported formats: mp4, mov, mxf, m4v, mts, m2ts, and avi.

  3. 03

    Build the selects

Pick Quick Select or Shake Detection and click Build. The selects land on a new sequence. Your original clips and your current sequence are never changed.

What it does not do: it does not stabilize footage and it does not judge which moment of a clip is the best one. Quick Select is a fixed trim, and Shake Detection keeps the steady parts it finds. You still decide which selects make the edit.

Got Questions

Is the B-roll Selector free?

Yes. B-roll Library, including the B-roll Selector and My B-roll Library, is one of the Free Forever tools in the AutoEdit plugin. You only need a free AutoEdit account.

Does it stabilize shaky footage?

No. Shake Detection does not stabilize anything. It finds the steady parts of each clip and keeps those, so the shaky stretches are left out of the new sequence.

Does my video get uploaded?

No. The B-roll Selector reads and analyzes your clips on your computer. Your video never leaves your machine.

Does it work on Intel Macs?

Quick Select works on every computer, including Intel Macs. Shake Detection needs an Apple silicon Mac or a Windows PC, so Intel Macs get Quick Select only.

Do I need a license key?

No. There is no license key to buy or enter. Sign in to the AutoEdit plugin with your free account and the tool is ready.

Which video formats does it support?

mp4, mov, mxf, m4v, mts, m2ts, and avi.
